Preserve history. Protect a legacy.

Heritage in Motion

Bring the Howard Hughes Green House to the Clark County Museum.

Heritage in Motion: The Howard Hughes House Project
is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to preserve a vital piece of Southern Nevada’s past. The Clark County Museum Guild is working to relocate and restore the Green House—an unassuming but historically significant home once owned by Howard Hughes, the reclusive billionaire and aviation icon. Located for decades on the KLAS Channel 8 property, the Green House is the last private residence known to be associated with Hughes. It also made an appearance in Martin Scorsese’s Casino. Our plan is to move the home to Heritage Street at the Clark County Museum, where it will help tell the story of Las Vegas’s explosive growth in the 1960s and 70s.

Be a part of the change.

Our Goal

To bring the Green House to its new home, the project requires raising $4.3 million. The Clark County Museum Guild seeks to raise $1.6 million to cover the physical relocation and preparation of the site.

Every donation—large or small—helps preserve this irreplaceable piece of history for generations to come.

Why This Matters

This project isn’t just about saving a house—it’s about preserving a moment in time. Howard Hughes transformed Las Vegas through aviation, media, and gaming. The Green House is one of the few remaining personal spaces linked to his life.

Its relocation will complete a historical timeline at the Clark County Museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the midcentury era. The house will be restored into a public exhibit highlighting Hughes’s legacy, midcentury Las Vegas, and Southern Nevada’s role in film history.
